Fat Cat present "Like Water Through The Sand" by Emilie Levienaise-Farrouch due for release on the 13th November 2015.
Stunning debut album from this award-winning French pianist/ composer currently living in London, introduces a striking new voice in the modern classical genre. This is one of two new records which mark the relaunch of FatCat's pioneering 130701 imprint ahead of next years 15th Anniversary. A collection of new compositions meshing piano, string quartet and electronics, the album is a wide-ranging yet cohesive collection, showcasing an immediately evident sense of class in the quality of the instrumental playing and the beautifully nuanced sound design, marshalled masterfully throughout by its creator. Shifting from solo piano pieces to stirring chamber pieces and foregrounding explorative electronic enhancements, the album is broad-ranged and playful yet cohesive and fully formed. The sound design is subtle, dynamic, adventurous and precise. Emilie's string arrangements were immaculately played by soloists from the London Contemporary Orchestra (one of the UK's most innovative and respected ensembles, who've collaborated with Johnny Greenwood, Arcade Fire, Jimmy Page, Foals, etc) 'Like Water Through the Sand' is gorgeously detailed and hugely impressive, and will appeal to fans of Max Richter, Johann Johannsson, Nils Frahm, Hauschka, etc.
